The LUCA Fit Guide

We believe the ultimate cycling apparel should combine ultra comfort with ultra performance. This guide will show you how to properly fit cycling gear, allowing you to enjoy your rides as best as possible.

  • Red
  • Fit
The tighter the jersey, the better it is for minimizing wind resistance. Avoid jerseys that are too tight as this could hamper movement or breathing – Its a fine line!

    Length
The perfect jersey should reach up to your waistline while riding, with the back long enough to cover your lower back.

    Sleeves
Sleeves must fit your arms closely without constricting motion, and long sleeves are preferable since they provide better AV protection.

    Materials
Always choose moisture-wicking materials to keep dry.

  • Red
  • Fit
The fit should be snug but not too tight so that your legs can move freely.

    Padding
Padding should align with your sit bones, making sure it doesn’t shift around too much as you pedal.

    Waistbands

Go for waistbands that are comfortable yet non-restrictive.

    Leg Grippers
Go for shorts that include silicone grippers, which will keep them in place as you cycle along in full force.

  • Black
  • Fit
Jackets should be fitting but allowing some calculated room for layers underneath when needed.

    Length

In a riding posture, the back of the jacket must go beyond your waistline to cover the entire part below when you ride your bicycle.

    Materials
Windproof and water-resistant fabrics are perfect for variable European weather conditions.

  • Navy
  • Fit
Tights need to conform well without causing any restrictions.

    Chamois
Ensure correct placement and comfortability of the chamois pad used on tights or shorts worn during cycling activities – they need to be in the right position to support the bony points of your body.

    Length
Full-length tights for cold weather should also cover the ankles.

  • Navy
  • Fit
Gloves need to be perfectly fitting so they don’t affect hand flexibility or control and are not too tight to cause any discomfort.

    Padding
The palm area should have enough padding to reduce pressure on long rides.

  • Navy
  • Fit
They should feel snug, with some slight space allowed for toes to move forward just a little bit.

    Closure
BOA dials or velcro straps are great for tailoring your shoes to your exact foot size.

  • Black
  • Fit
Socks should be tight but not strangle; more preferably, consider socks that go up to knee length, providing additional support.

    Material
Materials that help air breathe through them and wick sweat away from your feet are preferable.

It is important that your helmet fits level on your forehead, holding firmly but not squeezing your skin with its straps.

  • Red
  • Fit
Generally, arm and leg warmers need to fit snuggly so they do not slide down your legs – silicon grippers will make sure of that.

Additional Fit Tips

• LUCA apparel is made to perform! If you are looking for a  more relaxed fit, we suggest going up a size.

• Our jerseys, jackets, and outerwear are designed to fit over base layers – consider going one size up if you want to be able to layer heavily underneath.

• When fitting bib shorts properly, your height is usually the better indicator for size than the measurement of your waist.

• When shopping for new cycling shoes, consider wearing the LUCA socks you plan to ride in for the most accurate fit.
